Space Capital launched the Space Investment Quarterly in 2017 with the aim of uncovering insights about investing in the space economy, and visibility into what space companies to invest in. The data in this investment report is informed by data released publicly, SEC filings, and investor databases, as well as anonymized and aggregated info from the firm's own due diligence processes.
Now, for the first time, this unique dataset is available in a free, interactive format. Interested parties can drill into each of the defined technology stacks, double-click on certain annual data, or zoom into specific country trends.
There was $2.2B invested in the quarter. With investment down 53% Q/Q, the lowest quarter for space investment since 2015.
Over the last 10 years, there has been $272.2B of equity investment across 1,746 unique companies in the space economy, led by investment in the U.S. and China.
Total rounds YTD declined by 59% vs Q1 2023. A total of 49 early-stage rounds have closed YTD. Early-stage (Series Seed & A) investments increased 8% QoQ with the average deal size also increasing.
