Space Capital launched the Space Investment Quarterly in 2017 with the aim of uncovering insights about investing in the space economy, and visibility into what space companies to invest in. The data in this investment report is informed by data released publicly, SEC filings, and investor databases, as well as anonymized and aggregated info from the firm's own due diligence processes.
Now, for the first time, this unique dataset is available in a free, interactive format. Interested parties can drill into each of the defined technology stacks, double-click on certain annual data, or zoom into specific country trends.
There was $4.7B invested in the quarter. With investment up 159% Q/Q, the market may have hit bottom in Q3 2022, which was the lowest quarter for investment in the Space Economy since Q4 2013.
Over the last 10 years, there has been $272.3B of equity investment across 1,791 unique companies in the space economy, led by investment in the U.S. and China.
Total rounds YTD declined by 30% vs Q4 2021. A total of 277 early-stage rounds have closed YTD, with top 10 early-stage rounds accounting for $0.7B, an 18% increase YOY.
